Early morning
Alarm clock goes off at 5:30 am. I slowly turn over and shut the alarm off. I lay in bed wondering why I decided to do this. I gradually pull myself out of ben and start getting my things together. I dread going outside in the crisp cold air. I run to my car, start it and turn the heat on low. I drive up to the school. There are only a few cars in the parking lot. 5:50 am, I walk in to the dim lit gym and sit on the floor with the other girls. Messy hair, tired eyes, and over seized jackets. We are all tired, sitting on the floor we all slowly change our shoes. It is the time that we all dread, coach walks in a says it is time to start. We start with warm up laps and the stretch. As the time goes on we all wake up a little more. We scrimmage until 7:00am. We are done and now it is time to get ready for the rest of the day.

Opposites
Only in
darkness can you see stars
-
Martin
Luther King Jr.
You are the
dark night and the stars that shine.
You are the
rain storm through the night.
You are the
dark tunnel they drive through with the head lights on.
You are the
alarm clock that goes off in the early hours of the morning.
However, you
are not the snow filled trees and roads.
You are not
the big hill that people want to sled down.
And you are
certainly not the day off work and school.
There is
just no way that you are the day off.
It is
possible that you are a warm spring day with flowers all around
With the
birds singing and the colors coming back to life.
But you are
not even close to being the hot summer day.
It might interest
you to know that I am the hot summer day.
The day when
it hot but there is rain sprinkling down.
The days
when there is nothing to be done and just a time to relax.
I also
happen to be the cotton candy that puts a smile on children’s faces.
The thing
that they have been waiting for all day that is such a simple thing but will
bring so much joy.
But don’t worry,
I am not the dark night with the stars that shine.
You will always be the dark night sky with stars
for everyone to adore.Tuesday, January 3, 2017
Memories
The wind whistled through the air
She rushed inside with her hands full
of groceries
She pulls out all of her ingredients
Kneading the dough softly
She puts the dough in the pan and
into the oven
The warmth of the oven warms her home
Smelling the bread bring her joy
The bread is done and the smell feels
her home
Once it’s done she slices it
carefully
She puts a small amount of jam on
While eating her bread it brings back
memories
Memories of backing with her mom as a
child
She smiled softly and finished her
bread
